The Broadview/Bitter Lake Homezone encompasses Greenwood Ave N to Aurora Ave N, from N 105th St to N 130th St. Many streets in the neighborhood lack sidewalks, have stormwater and drainage issues, and suffer from cut-through traffic and speeding vehicles from the main streets of Greenwood and Aurora.
In this homezone area, community advocacy resulted in proposals for traffic calming initiatives such as speed humps, walkways, adding right-turn restrictions to prevent cut-through traffic, and entering treatments into the neighborhood. The proposal also includes conveyance swales—a vegetated, linear channel designed to transport and treat stormwater runoff—with a walkway for pedestrians. Read more about the pilot proposal in this Next City article.
